As an eclectic moviegoer and script reader, I’m as comfortable working with an action-packed thriller as I am with a romance. Just please NO COMEDY REQUESTS! Screenwriting services are meant to provide you with a first draft of your script so that you can then engage in self-revisions and / or pass the script along to a professional editor for further development.
Hiring a screenwriter means having your film idea appropriately formatted so that it is expressed in a way that agents and producers can easily understand. It also saves you the time, effort, and headache of trying to write your screenplay on your own.
This service is best for people who already have their own production company, will be creating the film themselves, or are self-funding a project.
If you are writing something on spec (meaning no one has paid you to write it yet), this service won’t be of much benefit to you. In the best case scenario, whoever you sell the script to will want more content from “you” (meaning me) later, so you’ll have to either disappoint them by writing the next screenplay yourself and having it be drastically different from what I produced for you, OR you’ll have to pay me to write the screenplays which ends up eating into your revenue from the deal (and, is just generally dishonest).
If you plan on writing spec scripts, my advice is to do that yourself so that whoever you partner with can be certain that they are directly working with the person who produces the screenplay.
